Japanese Bread Class is a hands-on baking course designed for beginners and intermediate bakers interested in traditional Japanese bread varieties. The class is conducted in English from 9am to 2pm, providing comprehensive instruction on preparing authentic Japanese bread such as Shokupan, Shiopan, and Melonpan.
Participants engage in practical, instructor-led sessions that include machine mixing of Shokupan and Shiopan doughs, as well as hand mixing for melonpan toppings. The course emphasizes the use of optional preferments, including Yudane for moisture and sponge for softness, to achieve optimal bread texture. The fermentation schedule is tailored for busy home bakers, facilitating integration into regular baking routines.
Specific shaping techniques are taught for multiple-layer Shiopan and classic Shokupan loaves, alongside guidance for baking in both home and commercial ovens. Attendees will produce a colorful set of three Melonpan with distinctive patterns, as well as an original Shokupan loaf and 3-4 pieces of Shiopan. The course includes a full-color booklet with step-by-step instructions and bonus video tutorials for reinforcement.
This Japanese Bread Class is ideal for home bakers seeking to expand their skills with authentic Japanese bread recipes, or for baking enthusiasts aiming to refine their techniques. The class size is limited to 4-8 persons to ensure personalized guidance. The course contains gluten, dairy, and eggs, but is free from pork, lard, and alcohol.
